For release on September 08, 2015

The Giving Gig 2016 will benefit Community’s cancer patients facing financial struggles

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network Foundation officials today announced that the Grammy Award-winning band Huey Lewis and the News will headline The Giving Gig 2016, the non-profit’s annual event that raises donations to help Community Health Network’s cancer patients facing financial difficulties.

The Giving Gig will be held on February 20, 2016, at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown hotel. Huey Lewis and the News’ performance, which will include their well-known hit “Power of Love,” will round out an evening of giving, with proceeds benefiting Community’s cancer patients and their families.

Tickets for the fourth annual event became available today and can be purchased by visiting eCommunity.com/GivingGig or calling 317-355-4483.

A table accommodating 10 guests is $3,500, a VIP couple’s package is available for $1,200 and individual tickets cost $350. All guests will enjoy a cocktail reception and silent auction, a four-course gourmet dinner, a live auction and dancing during the concert. In addition, those purchasing the VIP package will receive complimentary valet parking, access to an exclusive after party, an overnight stay at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott and premium gifts donated by local and national retailers.

Event planners say they expect the event to sell-out, given the popularity of The Giving Gig 2015 held this past February. That event raised $1.2 million for the Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, which helps cancer patients overcome financial barriers that limit their access to nutrition, medication, transportation and basic needs. In 2014, the event raised $825,000.

Joyce Irwin, Community Health Network Foundation’s president and CEO, says The Giving Gig will bring 1,000 donors together to raise additional financial support needed to fund Community’s on-going commitment to helping cancer patients in need of crucial assistance.

“The battle against cancer never stops for our patients and their families,” Irwin said. “Since its inaugural year, The Giving Gig has worked to lessen the financial burden on our cancer patients by raising funds to help cover their everyday needs so they can focus on what’s important - fighting the strongest fight possible. With that in mind, we invite members of our community to join us in 2016 for this unique opportunity to help ordinary people during extraordinarily challenging times, and have some fun along the way.”

Huey Lewis and the News is well-known for their chart-topping rock and roll hits that have transcended decades and been featured in films like “Back to the Future.” In addition to “The Power of Love,” their performance at The Giving Gig is expected to include their most famous songs, like “Heart of Rock & Roll,” “Stuck With You,” “Hip To Be Square,” and “Do You Believe In Love.”

The Giving Gig is made possible through the generosity of Alderson Commercial Group and Solo Creative. Additional support comes from Windsor Jewelry, American Senior Communities, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, BMO Harris Bank, Cardon & Associates, Emmis Communications, IBJ Media, Monarch Beverage, PNC Bank, Sport Graphics, and WTHR Channel 13. Bronze sponsors include Aramark; Baldwin & Lyons, Inc.; BSA Lifestructures; Community Hospital Oncology Physicians, LLC; Grant Thornton, LLP; Ice Miller, LLP; Indianapolis Monthly; Marriott Downtown; Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak and Stewart, PC; Pacers Sports & Entertainment; Pepper Construction; and TEG Architects.
