Visitors to Community Hospital North Campus: Southbound I-69 on and off ramps at 82nd St are shut down after January 29, 2024. The I-69 North ramp to 82nd St will also remain closed through mid-2024. New Community Hospital East
In December 2020, the doors were opened to the new lobby of Community Hospital East, marking the end of a five-year project to reinvest $175 million in the east region by building a new hospital. The new hospital tower includes an all new emergency department, medical imaging, surgery, delivery and inpatient rooms.
Construction occurred in several phases, all designed to not disrupt patient care. The modernized campus is positioned to handle ever-changing trends in today's healthcare environment.

A "sign" of progress
COVID-19 hasn't stopped progress on our construction project on campus. New CHE signage was installed in late May 2020. Building 2 is now gone and work will begin for the new hospital lobby soon. That work should be complete by the end of the year.
Expanded Behavioral Health Unit
In April 2020, the new west wing of the Behavioral Health Unit opened. The expansion added 13 more beds, doubling patient capacity. The unit is located at the NeuroDiagnostic Institute (NDI), the state-run facility located on the campus of Community Hospital East.
New Inpatient Adult Psychiatric Unit
In July 2019, Community expanded its capacity to treat drug addiction with a new inpatient adult psychiatric unit on the east side. A ribbon cutting marked the opening of the new 13-bed unit located on the 5th floor of the state’s Neuro-Diagnostic Institute before patients began using the space.
New Patient Tower Opens
On February 2, 2019, the new patient tower opened at Community Hospital East. It includes an all new emergency department, medical imaging, surgery, delivery, and inpatient rooms along with innovative bedside technology and enhanced privacy features. The public was invited to tour the new space at an open house.
Emergency Department Entrance Relocation
On February 12, 2019 the Community Hospital East Emergency Department entrance relocated to the new ED space located on the west side of the building. Parking may be accessed from 16th Street. The Emergency Department entrance is open 24/7. All campus visitors should use ED entrance after 7 p.m. See map for details.
Bistro East: Bringing Local Foods to Diners
The new Community East now includes a cafeteria of the future. Bistro East opened in August, 2018. Community partnered with local food and drink companies to offer new and innovative products that are locally sourced and locally produced. Diners can choose from weekly rotating items as well as grab-n-go options. Local vendors include Tinker Coffee Company, Circle City Kombucha, Paramount School of Excellence, Tulip Tree Creamery and many more. Learn more in the video below.
