New hospital coming to Community East campus
On July 11, demolition began on building 1 on the Community East campus. Prior to the demo, the building was encased in plywood to keep debris at a minimum.

The construction of an entirely new hospital will take Community East into the future for many years to come. The $175 million investment project includes demolishing four buildings on the campus, building the new hospital tower housing inpatient and procedural rooms, and moving its Family Medicine Center from 10th and Mithoeffer to the campus at 1500 N. Ritter. In 2016, a new emergency department will be built at the back of the hospital. The redevelopment project is expected to be completed in 2019 – with virtually no disruption to patient care. Community East begins offering state-of-the-art melanoma cancer treatment
Community East will begin treating certain melanoma cancer patients with the first-ever oncolytic immunotherapy approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This immunotherapy, which was approved by the FDA at the end of 2015, involves a gene-modified version of the herpes virus injected into a tumor. Although not a cure, the innovative treatment can increase patient survival rates. Read more >>
