Patricia Claxton, MDPatricia Claxton, MD

Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine
College: University of West Florida
Hometown: Oak Park, Illinois
Hobbies/Interests: I am thrilled to join the team at Community Health and be able to call Indianapolis my new home. Throughout medical school I found that I enjoyed all areas of medicine and genuinely loved all my clinical rotations. Due to my many interests, at first, I found it difficult to choose a field to specialize in. Once I experienced my family medicine rotation, I realized that family medicine satisfied all my interests. I was also excited to find out that there are many fellowships I could do after residency. With the countless number of tracks offered by Community Health I could also focus on several areas of interest during my residency years. I am interested in several tracks including: obstetrics and hospital medicine. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym and putting together different kinds of puzzles.

Hobbies/Interests: Hello! I am so excited to continue my medical training with the family medicine team at Community Hospital East! My medical interests include women’s healthcare, working with patients with low English proficiency, and gender-affirming care. Outside of medicine, I have too many hobbies per square inch of time. I really enjoy writing fiction and poetry, reading, drawing and painting, and playing my Irish flute, among other things. I am also an aerialist and trained with Turner’s Circus on the aerial silks. When I’m not at work or upside down, you’ll probably find me hanging out with my dogs.

Medical School: Indiana University School of Medicine
College: Indiana University
Hometown: Winamac, Indiana
Hobbies/Interests: I am so excited to join the Family Medicine Residency at Community Hospital East! I am proud to have been an IU Hoosier for my undergraduate and medical education, and I’m proud to now be stepping into a new environment at Community. I chose family medicine because I want to focus on my whole patient, and I chose Community East because I love their focus on underserved and outpatient medicine. Medically, I’m interested in addiction, geriatrics, bariatrics and palliative care. Above all, I am interested in caring for the underserved. Outside the hospital you can catch me spending time with my partner, playing with my two adopted cats, forgetting to water my plants, winning a game of euchre, reading a sci-fi novel, hiking a trail, watching anime, or trying out a new vegetarian recipe.
