Indianapolis—Community Health Network is starting 2024 with one of our favorite traditions, celebrating the New Year’s baby at each hospital in the Network. This year we had a baby born at all five of our hospitals on New Year’s Day.
The first New Year’s baby arrived at Community Hospital South at 1:22 a.m. Ismael Casillas-Caldera (pictured below) weighed in at 7lbs, 8oz and is 20 inches long. This is the fifth child for mom, Dora Caldera and she says Ismael is her biggest. Dora and Adrian Casilla are excited about taking their new bundle of joy to their home to meet Ismael’s siblings on the south side of Indianapolis.
Our second New Year’s baby was born at Community Hospital North at 6 a.m. This beautiful boy is the first for parents, Tanaya and Jimmy Jett of Greenfield. He weighed 6 lbs 9.9 oz and is nearly 21 inches long. This little one is named after his dad, Jimmy Jett.
Our third New Year’s baby in the Network was born at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. Mayday Madeliene Marie Rappuhn arrived at 11:16 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and is 21 inches long. This sweet girl is the daughter of Abigail Marie St. Clair and Derek Rappuhn. This is the couple’s first child. Mom is a comic fanatic and named the baby after Spiderman’s daughter, “Mayday”(below).
Our fourth New Year’s baby arrived at Community Hospital East at 2:38 p.m. Allison Karl is the daughter of Derek and Christy Karl of Indianapolis. Allison (pictured below) weighed 9 lbs 4 oz, is 22.5 inches long, and look at all that hair! This New Year’s baby is getting special care in our NICU.
Community Hospital Anderson welcomed our fifth and final New Year’s Baby at 9:38 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Pictured below is little Hazel May Swander, the daughter of Ashley McIntire and Doug Swander of Yorktown. Ashley is a Registered Nurse at Community Hospital Anderson. Her sweet daughter, Hazel, weighed 8 lbs 4.2 oz at birth and is 19 inches long. She will soon be meeting her 12 year-old big brother, Drake.
The first New Year’s baby born at each of our hospitals was presented with a gift basket created by our gift shops. We’re grateful that the families chose Community Health Network for this life-changing event.
